I tried to do a self-critique on these first to see what I could figure out. Can’t wait to hear what you have to say!!

Ugh. Steak is hard! Definitely not proud of this image, but I don’t know what I’d do to improve it.

I do wish I’d had a much cleaner background without all of the highlights for this one. Maybe backlight a bit more next time?

I learned a lot about client education on this shoot! It was my first food shoot on my own.
They just sort of plated everything at the same time, so I had like 6 dishes waiting on me.

• Tell them not to plate anything until I’m ready for that specific dish, to just keep the separate elements ready but unchopped (like the wilty-looking basil), and keep things like the artichokes in the oil, etc. I think I’ll probably have them take a few pictures on their phone of what the dish is supposed to look like when served and then just do the styling myself?

I wish I’d picked a much fuller-looking bunch of lavender :)

Maybe could have moved the plate more to the foreground and in towards the center of the image? I like it, but I’m not sure why the image bothers me.
